Radiology Technologist- Casual | Nemours | Wilmington, DE

research and education programs conducted at Nemours.
Nemours owns and operates the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in
Wilmington, DE, as well as four major Children's specialty centers in
Wilmington, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Pensacola.
Casual Radiologic Technologist Position Available
The Radiologic Technologist will perform x-ray procedures including
fluoroscopic procedures under the direction of a physician with
established methods and procedures, is responsible for patient care,
proper operation of all general diagnostic equipment.
Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for
Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve
services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate
and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Foundation.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for working knowledge of all radiologic diagnostic
equipment.
2. Knowledge of routine radiologic diagnostic imaging protocols
3. Ability to understand oral and written medical terms
4. Provides accurate preparation instructions to patient / family
according to type of procedure.
5. Physically prepare patient for examination. Explain the radiologic
procedure to the patient / family and answer pertinent procedural
questions
6. Responsible for screening of patients to be imaged for
contraindications that may be hazardous to their health or to the safety
of others.
7. Assists radiologists by evaluating patients and obtaining written
consent for administration of contrast media and observing patient for
allergic reaction after administration of contrast.
8. Monitors patients undergoing diagnostic radiologic procedures and
assists in monitoring of other patients within the Medical Imaging
Department.
9. Initiates life support measures as needed.
10. Responsible for proper identification of all images with patient
name, date of birth, patient identification number, time of study and
leader number.
11. Prepares imaging room and maintains cleanliness
12. Films images to hardcopy format and evaluates films for technical
quality.
13. Archives diagnostic radiologic images and documentation of archival
procedures performed.
14. Maintains accurate documentation for departmental records by
recording information neatly, accurately and completely.
15. Aids in training of new personnel, students and physicians.
16. Ensures proper function of equipment by proper usage and
maintenance.
17. Reports unsafe conditions and incidents to the immediate supervisor
and demonstrates safe work habits.
18. Operates hospital computer systems for patient data entry and
retrieval.
19. Maintains work habits consistent with hospital and department
policies
20. Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care, as
attached to the annual performance appraisal document, with respect to
the appropriate specific chronological age, developmental age or social
maturity of the patient.
Education, Training and Experience
A. High school graduate or equivalent, required.
B. Completion of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program,
required.
C. Two years recent diagnostic experience, required.
D. Pediatric imaging experience, preferred.
E. Experience in MRI, CT or strong background in cross- sectional
anatomy, preferred.
II. Licenses, Registrations or Certifications
A. A.R.R.T. registered or registry eligible, required.
B. State of Delaware radiologic licensure or licensure eligible,
required.
C. Annual CPR certification required.
